Business Development and Sales Lead

The successful candidate will develop and lead the sales and marketing strategy at Suncayr to help introduce our product into market. The candidate will need to identify, qualify, and sell SPOTs and our other vertical products.

Recruitment begins: September/October 2017


We are looking for a candidate who will:

  • Lead the development of Suncayr’s sales process and launch strategies for SPOT (short-term and long-term).
  • Identify potential market segments and channels, and candidate customers in those segments and channels.
  • Connect with our customers to brand and sell Suncayr and SPOT.
  • Maintain relationships with customers for feedback and future sales.
  • Prepare and update sales and marketing projections.
  • Analyze progress, re-evaluate current strategy, and implement improvements to the sales process.
  • Work with the team to identify future market applications for SPOT and Suncayr's developing technologies.
  • Capacity and flexibility to support the entire team across all functions when needed.

Candidate will need to have:

  • A university degree or college diploma in a business, sales, or marketing field of study.
  • Ability to learn fast and adapt within an evolving start-up environment.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze ongoing strategies while integrating and making changes accordingly.
  • Experience working cohesively within smaller teams.
  • Experience working independently and setting own milestones.
  • Experience (2+ years) in marketing, sales, or other business development roles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

About the contract and location

This is a 6-month contract position through the MaRS Embark program, with possibility (and hope) for extension into a full-time position after the contract.

The job will be primarily in the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto, though may also be based in Kitchener-Waterloo, or in Brisbane, Australia.
